Are you living a life that is stressful and challenge-filled?
Want to be stress free. Do you want to empower yourself to live a healthy life every day?

I’d like to share my story with you, and you will get the feeling for why yoga means so much to me.

I started my journey in my 20’s after being sick for a while and I wanted to feel more relaxed, confident, strong and gain more self-esteem.  I was living in Sweden and was working a busy life in tourism and hospitality. I completed a course in ayurveda, and this sparked my interest to learn more about this lifestyle so I could live my life to the fullest and become a healthier person.

My friend’s mum talked one day about Qi Gong, and I was keen to learn more about this practice. I loved it and it led to me exploring further methods of this type of exercise. The gym I attended had yoga on the timetable and I thought “I’ll try it out”.

After a few lessons I was sold, it felt that I had found my home and my exercise. I continued to practice and was longing for my next yoga session and the feeling it gave me.

In 2004 I went to Brisbane Australia to visit a friend and it made me think “maybe I should move overseas and just do something totally different and start studying”. So, after lots of planning I moved to Brisbane in 2005 to study business marketing at a university. It was fun being an international student, I met lots of new people and learnt a lot of new skills in the field of marketing. I was supposed to stay for 1.5 years but only after six months I met my now husband and we started dating. He convinced me to do further studies and of course I didn’t want to leave, and I continue my bachelor’s degree. After a few months in dating, he told me he had a chronic kidney disease, and this shocked me. How can this be? It’s so unfair when you finally meet someone you love.

I searched the internet extensively about this disease and was determined for us both to make the best of the situation. We were told that sometime in the future there could be an opportunity of a transplant, and all would be ok.

We married and life was going great. Then my husband was told he was going to start dialysis which happened just two months before our lovely daughter was born. Life was tough with a newborn, my husband on dialysis and just dealing with it all.

I did sign up for yoga baby both during my pregnancy and then after. It was a lifesaver since I could meet other mums who were struggling with different things. This really changed my life. Once back at work I found a yoga studio close to my workplace but when this suddenly closed all clients were referred to Julie Smerdon’s Shri Yoga. This was the place for me for so many years where I developed my yoga practice and what saved me during the very tough times. My husband had a transplant in 2016 but it didn’t succeed, and I saw all the ups and downs for him and experienced how we all felt as a family.

After many years of yoga practice, I felt an urge to learn more and help other people to learn about yoga and the transformation you will experience – for life.  I signed up for Julie’s teacher training and it was the best investment ever. I have learnt so much and grown as a person. Now I want to share my passion with you and teach from my experience.

Become the best version of you. Live your life to the fullest.

I invite you to integrate yoga into your life and empower yourself to live a deeply healthy life every day.
