The Superpower of Gratitude: Empowering Busy Mums to Thrive

Let’s face it life is busy and how much we try to avoid it, it will still be hectic. As a mum, working, looking after the family, driving to activities and doing all the other numerous chores on the to-do-list it can be quite daunting and chaotic. It’s easy to get lost and wrapped up in all that is going on, so you forget your own well-being. One powerful tool that can keep you grounded and help you find moments of calm, joy, and perspective is gratitude. In this blog post, we'll explore how practicing gratitude can be a lifeline for busy moms, providing a path to inner bliss and enhanced well-being.

1.      The Gratitude mindset- in the busyness of life it’s easy to focus on what you don’t have and what you can’t do or haven’t done. If you shift your mindset and find small joys and appreciation every day in form of gratitude you will feel more positive, energised and happier. It doesn’t have to be something big but small appreciations in daily life can make a huge impact.

2.      Gratitude journaling- take a few moments each day to write down three thing that you are grateful for. It can be simple things such as reading a book to your kids at night, having tea with a friend or taking a walk with the dog. Journalling is a great way to stop and reflect on the small things in life which are often the most important and can make the biggest difference.

3.      Gratitude helps you find strength in challenges- mums have lots of challenges to deal with, sleepless nights, tantrums of kids, always being on the go and never have enough time to wind down. Gratitude serves as a guiding light, helping mums to see challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. Each difficulty becomes a chance to teach resilience and patience, both to your children and yourself.

4.      Practice being present – moment gratitude: in the hectic life of being a mum it’s easy you try to multitask, cooking dinner whilst being on the phone and helping your kid with something or being at the playground answering a text message whilst pushing your child on the swing. If we instead try to be present in the moment, we are in this mindful presence can cultivate a deep sense of gratitude for the precious moments you share with your loved ones, family and friends.

5.      Gratitude walks- take a time out of your busy day to take a walk on your own or with your kids. Being in nature brings a sense of calm and relaxation to your body and mind. Look around and reflect on what you are grateful for such as the beautiful weather, the birds singing or spending quality time with your kids. Encourage your kids to share what they appreciate which teach them that being grateful for things in life.

 

In the midst of your busy mom life, gratitude acts as a gentle reminder to pause and embrace the beauty around you. By practicing gratitude, you're nurturing your own well-being, fostering connection within your family, and finding moments of joy amidst the whirlwind of motherhood.
